Since 2007, Ms. Caprice Taylor Mendez has served as Executive Director of Emerge Massachusetts, an organization supporting Democratic women for public office. The organization supports the fundraising efforts through donor cultivation and events. She has helped build relationships with organizations, groups and individuals as a part of the pipeline for women to public office.Ms. Taylor Mendez has also served in organizations dedicated to tobacco control and prevention. From 2001 to 2002, she served as National Policy Director for the National Latino Council on Alcohol and Tobacco Prevention (LCAT). The organization developed collaborative relationships with the intent of impacting public health policy. LCAT network groups were created in several states and were able to provide additional state funds for health projects. Ms. Taylor Mendez also helped launch the first Latino Tobacco Control and Prevention National Advocacy day on Capital Hill.From 1997 to 1999, Ms. Taylor Mendez served as Boston Area Tobacco Control Coalition (BATCC) Director for The Medical Foundation/ Massachusetts Tobacco Control Program (MTCP). She aided in establishing the first tobacco control advocacy coalition for 4 diverse cities. Her efforts resulted in smoke free restaurants and public schools, increased cigarette tax, and level funding.
